(CHICAGO) Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood will celebrate its vibrant art scene by showcasing the work of visual and performance artists in local businesses during the eleventh annual ?Andersonville Arts Weekend? on Friday, October 11; Saturday, October 12; & Sunday, October 13, 2013. The highlight of Andersonville Arts Weekend is a self-guided art walk on Saturday and Sunday, featuring work from mostly Chicago-based visual artists, shown throughout the neighborhood in galleries, restaurants, retail stores and other traditional and non-traditional art spaces. The walk will include a wide variety of painters, sculptors, photographers, and more, ranging from emerging artists to Chicago favorites. This year, there are over 40 participating locations! In addition, admission to Andersonville's beloved Swedish American Museum (5211 N. Clark) is free all weekend! The art walk will be open on Saturday & Sunday from 11AM to 6PM. Always one of the busiest nights of the year on Clark Street, the weekend begins Friday, October 11 from 6:00-10:00 pm as over 30 Andersonville businesses feature great art, refreshments and entertainment during ?night of 100 pARTies?! There will be many artist receptions, including at the Andersonville Galleria, Andersonville Guesthouse, Early to Bed, Las Manos Gallery, Scout, and Urban Orchard. Unity Lutheran Church On Friday, October 11, Unity Lutheran Church (1212 W. Balmoral) is hosting a night of art, theatre, and dance. Events include: 7:30pm Play for Keeps ? a performance by Stockyards Theatre Project, a non-profit organization devoted to ?giving volume to the voices of women.? Free. 7:30-10:30pm Unity Works Dance Project, an evening of dance curated by Sarah Gottlieb. Free-will donations accepted. 9:00pm Series: Journey through Exodus, an exhibit of paintings by Shawna Bowman. Free. 9:30pm Volpone by Ben Jonson ? a staged reading by Two Pence Theatre Company. Swedish American Museum In conjunction with Andersonville Arts Weekend, the Swedish American Museum is hosting ?The Swedish Way,? a special weekend full of events and sales including a special exhibit of paintings by Swedish artist Michael Söderlundh; a Swedish café in the gallery; Clogmaster and Polarn O. Pyret trunk shows; an opportunity to book photo sessions with Kristine Casart, a portrait and lifestyle photographer from Stockholm; and product demos and sales of Norwex cleaning products and Funflectors reflective tags. Andersonville Arts Weekend is the place to get your fix ? featuring, not one, but three showings of the cult classic! Join Quest Theatre Ensemble on Saturday, Oct. 12, for a pub crawl around the neighborhood, ending with a screening of the film at The Call (1547 W. Bryn Mawr) and a costume contest. Advance tickets: $30 or 2 for $50. Day-of: $35. Includes bar entry, film showing, one drink at film showing, event swag, and a Rocky Horror prop bag. Movie showing only is $15.
