Craft beers are hot! In fact, while the market for mainstream beers are flat, sales of craft brews are skyrocketing. The inaugural Craft Beer Festival at St. Michael in Old Town, held on the grounds of the iconic parish, will celebrate specialty microbrews produced both by small Midwest specialty breweries as well as small-batch beers increasingly rolling out from their mainstream counterparts. Held over three days, this new event will take on the flair of an authentic Belgian beer fest. Highlights of this Chicago-meets-Europe street fest includes food, music, arts & crafts and beers, while a stand-alone area will be home to daily tastings (one on Friday, two on both Saturday and Sunday) where visitors will have the opportunity (for an additional cost) to sample and savor more than 50 craft brews.
