Next summer, the most well-groomed dogs and cats will appear on the sidewalks of Princeton, when Friends of Strays opens Art...Well-Groomed 2008, a novel open-air gallery that will showcase large statues of dogs and cats, painted and embellished by talented artists.
The colorful and imaginative Art will be displayed outdoors in the Princeton downtown area for 10 weeks.
The Art will be publicly unveiled at the Art...Well- Groomed 2008 Parade, at which time, each finished sculpture will be placed at a foster home, a retailer in the downtown area.
During the 10 week period of the exhibition, there will be many events related to the exhibit. One example, Art Detective, is an event that will challenge families to find each sculpture, identify each by finding a distinctive artistic feature, and to visit the retailer for the official identification stamp. Prizes will be awarded.
On October 4th, the Art will be auctioned at a gala event. Proceeds will benefit Friends of Strays, Inc., a no kill animal shelter, to aid in the development of a low/no cost spay/neuter clinic that will serve low income families and seniors.
In addition to Art...Well-Groomed 2008, the City of Princeton and nearby locations have much to offer including historic architecture, the Owen Lovejoy home - a part of the Underground Railroad, the Red Covered Bridge, Hornbaker Gardens, the historic Hennepin Parkway, and naturalist sites that include the McCune Sand Prairie. Food and lodging are available in Princeton.

The Auction gala event will be held on October 4, 2008. Details of this event will be forthcoming.
