The aromatic smells of delicious foods and the thundering boom of cannons will fill the air at this year's 18th annual gathering on the Theatiki in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
The Gathering is a representation of a time in the history of the Illinois Country that is now often overlooked. Historical re-enactors and skilled craftspeople from across the Midwest portraying the millitary of the French and British, as well as Woodland Indians, voyageurs, Scots and civilian merchants, will gather to demonstrate the skills and lifestyles of early residents of the Great Lakes area. Visitors to the two day event view military camps and Woodland Indian lodges, crafts demonstrations and trade blankets and booths with period wares, food and drinks..
Bagpipes, fifes and Woodland drums join voices to lift hearts and stir imaginations with authentic music of the time.
